Lingo.dev Compiler is a free, open-source build-time translation system for React applications. The Compiler had been prototyped and validated with early adopters, but community feedback after the open-source launch surfaced architectural limitations around build performance, SSR, and developer experience in Next.js and edge environments. In a focused four-week sprint with co-founder Max Prilutskiy, Evil Martians rewrote the plugin from scratch: new AST transformation logic, Next.js + TurboPack support, page-level translations, and better pluralization handling. The Lingo.dev team owns and extends the full codebase.
