## Evil Martians method

Developer tools have no happy path, so we design for the three contexts your users move between: debugging one error, building a feature, and shipping to production. Each one wants different [layout patterns](https://evilmartians.com/chronicles/devtool-layout-rule) and [information density](https://evilmartians.com/chronicles/keep-it-together-5-essential-design-patterns-for-dev-tool-uis). In practice that means radio buttons over dropdowns, sliders with precise text inputs, resizable panels, and sturdy interface. Most engagements start with a two-week design sprint, from first conversation to a design you can test with real developers.

### HTTPie

The design story, screen by screen: [UI design for HTTPie: macOS vibes for the API testing client](https://evilmartians.com/chronicles/ui-design-for-httpie-macos-vibes-for-the-api-testing-client).

We led product design for [HTTPie](https://evilmartians.com/clients/httpie), the API testing client, and the launch hit 4th Product of the Day on Product Hunt.

### Tegon

[Tegon](https://evilmartians.com/clients/tegon) is a YC-backed AI-first issue tracker. We gave it a full [UI and UX redesign](https://evilmartians.com/chronicles/designing-tegon-a-signature-vision-for-the-ai-driven-issue-tracker), including how its AI filters behave.

### AppSignal

The design, the A/B test, and the numbers: [+14% activated users for AppSignal: designing a new homepage in code](https://evilmartians.com/chronicles/plus-14-percent-activated-users-for-appsignal-designing-a-new-homepage-in-code).

[AppSignal](https://evilmartians.com/clients/appsignal) is an APM platform used by thousands of engineering teams. We designed their 2026 homepage, built it in code, and shipped it straight into an A/B test against the old site. Activation came out 14% higher.

### More teams we designed for

- **[Teleport](https://evilmartians.com/clients/teleport):** we rebuilt their docs in Next.js and turned them into a [customer acquisition channel](https://evilmartians.com/chronicles/next-level-docs-with-nextjs-teleports-new-customer-aquisition-channel).
- **[Tines](https://evilmartians.com/clients/tines):** the drag-and-drop workflow builder security teams use, designed on the way to unicorn status.
- **[Ghost Security](https://evilmartians.com/clients/ghost-security):** a dashboard that groups and prioritizes events visually instead of burying them in tables.
- **[Quotient AI](https://evilmartians.com/clients/quotient):** a [prompt evaluation sandbox](https://evilmartians.com/chronicles/ui-for-quotient-ai-the-developer-tool-for-prompt-engineers) for testing LLMs.
- **[Rootly](https://evilmartians.com/clients/rootly):** product redesign for a YC-backed incident management platform.
- **[Medplum](https://evilmartians.com/clients/medplum):** a healthcare developer platform designed out of a demo app.
