Cover for Bites and Bytes: meetup for developers in Tbilisi

Evil Martians invited developers in Georgia for an offline meetup in Tbilisi. Our third Bites & Bytes meetup included talks on Ruby, algorithms, Generative Art, and a lot of networking.

Our agenda

  • Pasha Kalashnikov, Backend Engineer at Evil Martians, proves that Ruby Ruby is not slow anymore by demonstrating how to create fast applications in Ruby.
Slides: Ruby is not slow anymore.
Video demo of creating a Rust-powered JSON parser for Ruby: YouTube.

  • Nina Torgunakova, Frontend Engineer at Evil Martians, has solved over 400 algorithmic tasks in 1 year and is ready to tell us how to do it right and why we need to do it. Engineers at every stage in their careers can pick up some useful tips. Hacks to keep you motivated included!
Slides: Solving algorithms: beyond cramming for job interviews.

  • Oleg Abakshonok, a generative artist, has agreed to reveal a new, intriguing direction in coding: Generative Art. Oleg aims to inspire frontend developers to pump their professional skills and to discover their own creativity via programming (with no hyped-up neural networks involved). Create art with code, taking the first, practical steps.
    Slides: Generative Art Presentation.
