We are excited to bring you the special edition of the SF Bay Area Ruby meetup, hosted by the most iconic startup accelerator and venture capital firm in the world, Y Combinator.
YC Partner Jared Friedman is going to give an opening talk about the history of software at YC: how they chose Rails, who the first checkin to the codebase was, why Bookface is a YC founder’s secret weapon, and how Rails powers everything from YC applications, Work at a Startup and even YC’s internal calendaring systems.
We’ll also have 5 talks from YC founders sharing their novel uses of Ruby in the wild — and how it’s not the Ruby you tried out 10+ years ago. These will look more like tech talks from technical founders, and we want to bring together rubyists excited to nerd out about Ruby for a night. (And many of these companies will be hiring — including YC Software hiring for Rails-gurus ourself!)
The event is hosted by YC at their new headquarters in SF, with dinner and refreshments provided as well.
