Rails and Y Combinator grew up together: by Irina’s count, 90% of early YC startups built on Rails, and the framework still lets founders spend their risk budget on the business instead of the stack. Flexport consolidating 30-plus Java microservices back into a Rails monolith is the pragmatic version of the same argument.
The community side holds up too, with more than 900 Ruby meetups worldwide in the previous twelve months. Irina’s advice for starting one: find the companies near you that already run Rails.
